About Black Stump 2009

When is Black Stump 2009?

BLACK STUMP 2009 will run from Friday 2 October untill Monday 5 October 2009.  Gates open midday Friday so you can get ready for the action to start from around 7pm.  The Festival finishes up at lunchtime on Monday.

Where is Black Stump held?

BLACK STUMP will be held at THE SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL EQUESTRIAN CENTRE located just off the M7 at Horsley Park

Tell me more about the Equestrian Centre?

Located just off the M7 at Horsley Park and built for the Sydney Olympics in 2000, the Equestrian Centre offers fantastic, modern facilities including a massive fully under-cover arena, landscaped surrounds and plenty of GRASS! A range of camping options including a low-noise family area and a limited number of powered sites available will guarantee the sense of community so vital to the true STUMP experience.

What changes can we expect from 2008?

Thanks to all who filled out an on-line evaluation after STUMP 08! The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and we appreciate the support and encouragement enormously! :)

We also appreciated the constructive comments and suggestions put forward which we are looking to improve on in 2009:

  1. The power at the site has been increased which will enable us to locate the VILLAGE just outside of the INDOOR ARENA.
  2. Camping will be divided into sites, each with it's own COMMUNITY CAMP CENTRAL.
  3. Toilets and showers will be broken up and spread throughout the camping sites where sewage points are located.
  4. The low noise FAMILY CAMPING SITE will be located in a different area, close to facilities.

Thanks for understanding all the issues associated with a move to a new site. We spent a number of years (and many $$'s!!) building infastructure into Cataract Park and in many ways, the process is beginning again. We are 100% committed to STUMP being the very best it can be - it is a festival committed to COMMUNITY, and exists for the COMMUNITY.

Tickets

How do I get my hands on a brochure?

Brochures are available from JUNE and we'd love to send you as many as you need. All you have to do is go to our brochures page on the website and log the quantity you require.

Who can come in on a Family Ticket?

The definition of a "family" is basically a family that lives in the one household: parents/guardians and DEPENDANT kids. Non-related kids such as foster kids may count but "a good friend of my son's" doesn’t and needs to be a separate ticket on top of the family rate.

Dependant student-age children ARE eligible to enter on a family pass provided they are not employed in a capacity enabling them to be self sufficient. This may include part time employment.

We understand this is a grey area and thank you for your support and judgement. Black Stump is a not-for-profit organisation which relies almost entirely on the good will of our supporters.

Are refunds available?

As a general rule, tickets purchased are non-refundable. You may on-sell your on ticket in the event you are not able to attend the festival as planned.

In some circumstances, unpresented tickets may be exchanged for a ticket to the following years Festival. This is subject to approval and may attract an administration charge.

All tickets purchased while STUMP was advertising the Paul Colman Trio show (August 1st - August 19th, 2009) ARE eligible for full refund if required. Please contact: regos@blackstump.org.au

E-Ticket System

How does Black Stump's e-ticket system work?

E-Tickets will be sent by e-mail to the person who purchases a group of tickets. It is then up to them to distribute the e-tickets to all ticket holders.

To gain entry to Black Stump, you will need to bring a printout of your e-ticket.

Each e-ticket may only be used once for entry into the festival, so it is important that you do not let anybody else copy or print your e-ticket.

I do not have my e-ticket! What do I do?

You will need to chase up your group coordinator, who will have access to your e-ticket. They will be able to print or e-mail you your e-ticket.

If you cannot contact your group coordinator, contact Black Stump on 1300 304 368 or regos@blackstump.org.au.

I have lost my e-ticket! What do I do?

Your group coordinator will be able to replace it for you - either by printing it for you or sending you a replacement file to print from. They are able to download a new copy of their e-tickets from the website at any time.

I don't have a printer/can't open Acrobat files/don't understand any of this newfangled computer technology and can't print my e-tickets. What do I do?

Your best bet is to hook up with a geek friend who will be able to download and print your e-tickets for you: all they need is a web browser and your login if you are the group contact.

If you are genuinely stuck contact Black Stump on 1300 304 368 or regos@blackstump.org.au for support.

My e-ticket may have been forwarded to the wrong person/printed out by my evil cousin Larry - does this mean that I won't be able to come into the festival if they use it?

It is very important that you keep your e-ticket secure and do not allow anyone else to print it. It is even recommended that you delete the file after printing it if you are unsure - your group coordinator can always download another one.

If you have reasonable suspicions that your existing e-ticket has been compromised, contact Black Stump on 1300 304 368 or regos@blackstump.org.au. You will need to provide a number of details but we can arrange to re-issue your e-ticket with a different security code.

What happens if I turn up with an e-ticket that somebody else has already used?

You will be asked to contact your group coordinator to resolve the issue. If they cannot be contacted or the issue cannot be resolved, another ticket may have to be purchased at the gate.

I'm a group coordinator - how do I download another copy of my group's e-tickets?

Log in and go to the Tickets page. You will see the link "Download E-Ticket Package" on the bottom toolbar for any group that is submitted and fully paid up.

Help! I can't find the link that allows me to download my e-tickets!

This link doesn't go live usually until early September, when we e-mail out e-tickets and switch on the system that allows for the downloading of e-tickets.

Once e-tickets go live, you will see a "Download E-Ticket Package" link displayed once:

  1. The group has been submitted, or
  2. The group has been fully paid
    1. If you have elected to pay by cheque or direct deposit, your e-tickets will not become available until we have received your payment.

When are e-tickets e-mailed out?

Tickets will be mailed out early to mid-September.

General Info on Camping at Black Stump

What do I need to bring to the Festival?

Black Stump is a CAMPING FESTIVAL so you must bring your own tent, sleeping gear and food. Don't forget a towel (there ARE showers on-site), a few changes of clothes (come prepared for warm days and chilly nights) and DEODORANT. Please don't forget the deodorant!

Open fires are NOT permitted so a gas cooker/BBQ would be ideal.  Make sure you bring a full gas bottle as there are no refill facilities on-site (oh and don't forget the matches). There are also plenty of places to buy food in the Village if your cooking skills leave a little to be desired...

If you're not into the loud music (or just want to get some sleep) we normally sell earplugs at a reasonable price from the First Aid Station. And don't forget basic things like sunnies, sunblock and some wet weather gear... but it NEVER rains at Stump! No, never.

It would be excellent if you threw in your Bible as well... Oh and don't forget your cash to buy that "must have" Stump t-shirt or CD from your fave Stump band.  A camera to capture great Stump memories is a must!

Can I get cash out or use EFTPOS?

Yes! EFTPOS and cash-out facilities are available at Stump Shop. EFTPOS is available for ticket purchases at the gate also.

What kind of food is available if I don't want to bring my own?

A wide variety of food stalls operate at Black Stump all in one central location known as The Village. We have large venues such as The Supper Club offering café-style food, along with the One World Café, the Mars Hill Café, Pizza, Kebabs and Donuts as well as snack style food and drinks.

The actual list of stalls can change from year to year so check the VENUES page from the website.  There are regulars that Stump wouldn't be the same without - like Plunge, the Baptist Donut Tent. They're Baptist donuts, so you know they've been fully immersed.

Can I get access to electricity at Black Stump?

Alas NO!  There is some (very limited) power available for essential use only at selected campsites.

POWERED CARAVAN sites are available at a small extra charge. These are pre-booked when you purchase your tickets.

If you have medical equipment or similar that requires 'charging' etc then - yes - electricity is available. You MUST let registrations know of your requirements prior to arriving at the Festival - Call 1300 304 368 or email: admin@blackstump.org.au

Are disabled facilities available?

The Eqestrain Centre has very good disabled facilities and access to all venues is possible.

What camping options are available?

Camping options include general camping, a low noise, family camping site, and a limited number of powered caravan sites (at a small extra charge).

You will be asked to specify the camping desired when you purchase your ticket. Load and unload access is very good, but cars will be parked in designated car parks for the weekend and not kept beside your vehicle (except specific camping vehicles).

Camping areas have limited shade so please come prepared!

What if I don't want to camp?

What!?!? And miss out on all that fun and fellowship?? Oh well, have it your way...

The venue is close to a bunch of hotels of various levels and located just off the M7 for those sydney based folk who want to commute. See the SIEC website for their list of suggested accomodation options.

Black Stump Artists

How can we find out the program for Black Stump?

As we draw nearer to The Festival we continually update the website under the PROGRAM link as to who will be performing and appearing.  However, the "official" program (which details times and venues etc) is never released until about 3 weeks before The Festival (because nothing's set in concrete until then). Keep an eye on the website and register for E-news - you'll know as soon as the program is ready to go!

When will you be announcing this years line up?

We will begin announcing this years line up in JUNE!! Keep a close eye on the website...

Hey - <insert name of band> told me that they were coming to Black Stump, but they're not listed on the website! What gives!?

There are a few possible explanations for this, but the most common is that when they say they're coming to Black Stump it means they've been invited to play!  But Black Stump won't actually advertise anyone until they have formally accepted the invitation and send back the form that we've sent them. So, bug your band!

Getting To Black Stump

How do I get to Black Stump by public transport?

Rooty Hill railway station is the closest to the venue. Access to and from the station is via a taxi (Southern Taxi: 13 27 88). The closest bus stop is on the Horsley drive which is serviced by Westbus the bus timetable information can be found on the Westbus website. SIEC is approximately a 20 minute walk from the bus stop.

Kids' Program

Is there a Kids' Program running at Black Stump?

Yes, Kid Stump, as we like to call it, runs for kids aged 5 - 12 years old . Sorry, we do not have facilities to cater for children younger than 5. Registrations for the Kids Stump programme will begin on Friday.

What is the Kids' Program?

KID STUMP is held in it's own venue where the kids attending need to be signed in and out - it's NOT a drop-in style activity.  It is filled with great teaching, fun activities, arts & crafts, sports and other cool things.  A great team of experienced leaders provide a safe level of supervision in a great Christian environment.

Each day the kids will experience something new and exciting all centred around fun life adventures as they search for ways in which God impacts their lives.  They'll even have their own fun worship time on Sunday morning.

Kids Stump is for children aged between 5 and 12 (Primary School).

Does the Kids' Program cost anything?

No - The prgramme itself is free. Lunch is supplied for the children and there may be a small charge to cover this.
